How will Michigan’s offense fare against Maryland’s defense?

No, Maryland’s defense isn’t some world-beater, but they are still a Power Five team, so their defense will naturally be a couple of steps up in competition for Michigan’s offense than what CSU, Hawaii, and UConn presented.

I want to see what J.J. McCarthy looks like in his first start against a Big Ten opponent. He has been as advertised so far this season, but Maryland’s defense is a little bit better than the other three teams prior.

I want to see JJ go through his proper progressions and reads, make more smart decisions, and look even more comfortable with the plays and dissecting the opposing defense.

I want to see Jim Harbaugh open up the playbook a little more against Maryland and let McCarthy take some deep shots.

Against teams like Maryland, Michigan needs to show urgency early and put its foot on the gas and bury the Terps. Don’t give the Terps any hope that they can hang with the Wolverines.

Right now, the odds have Michigan at -17 (according to Fanduel) over Maryland. I predict Michigan football to comfortably defeat the Terrapins and cover the spread.

I think Maryland will give Michigan some issues early on, as Michigan’s defense gets adjusted to Maryland’s style of play, and tempo, and just faces an actual Power Five opponent, but in the end, the Michigan offense will be too much for Maryland.

I think Michigan wins 48-21. Go Blue!
