The Pass rush

Another concern I have going into Big Ten play is the pass rush. Yes, Michigan football notched seven sacks in the win over Colorado State, but the Wolverines have registered just two sacks since then and you wonder how it will translate.

Hawaii and UConn were certainly making an effort to get rid of the ball. At least it seemed that way and if you’re allowing less than four yards per pass attempt, you probably aren’t going to be overly concerned with your sack numbers.

Mike Morris, Jaylen Harrell, Braiden McGregor, Eybai Anoma, and Derrick Moore have all flashed as pass rushers. Harrell has probably been the most consistent and Morris is a guy who can move around and do more than just rush from the edge.

The interior pass rush needs to be better and so far, the pass rush has been fine. As long as that production continues during Big Ten play (three sacks per game on average), this won’t be a concern.

For now, I need to see Michigan’s pass rushers against some Big Ten offensive linemen. Then we’ll see how good they are once and for all.
