5 things we learned in Michigan Football win over UConn
The O-line needs to play better
One thing that has disappointed me a little bit so far this season for Michigan football has been the offensive line.
To be fair, there have been injuries and some guys have shuffled around. It’s also not like the production has been lacking but if we expected this year’s offensive line to be better than last year’s, it’s not there. At least not yet.
Michigan had six rushing touchdowns on Saturday but only averaged 4.4 yards per rushing attempt. UConn is a well-coached team now and it’s not like the Wolverines have been getting very creative with their run calls but still.
I haven’t seen as many explosive runs as last season and that’s worrisome heading into Big Ten play. Blake Corum scored five touchdowns yesterday but he hasn’t looked as impressive to me as last season.
The pass protection has also been a little leaky and the Wolverines allowed two sacks yesterday to UConn. It’s something that can get cleaned up but if this team is going to reach its full potential, the offensive line needs to play up its full potential. It hasn’t through three games.
