2. The offensive line is to blame for McNamara’s injury

As unfortunate as it was this is a huge overreaction. Injuries are a part of the sport and are going to happen regardless of who it is. It could have easily been McCarthy back there as well, but the deficit was so large at that current moment, it’s why he was inserted into the matchup in the first place. It adds more insult to injury for what McNamara has experienced thus far in 2022.

Some will place blame on Michigan’s offensive line, while others will put it on McNamara himself. Others will even say coach Harbaugh should have had McCarthy in and waited till the second half to insert McNamara. The fact is that the injury happened and Michigan football will have to live with the consequences of it for a rumored short period of time.

Perhaps if McNamara was more mobile like McCarthy this could have been avoided, but he’s not. Maybe if he got rid of the ball faster, this would not have happened at all.

If the line would have blocked better, then we’re not talking about it today and beyond. Nonetheless, if something happens to McCarthy, we’ll have to worry about what will Michigan do at the most important position on the field.
