These are the three most absurd overreactions from Michigan football’s triumphant blasting of UConn on Saturday in the Big house.

Michigan football finished 3-0 as it wrapped up its preseason docket by trouncing UConn and scoring 50+ points for the third time in a row.

Now the real gauntlet of the Big Ten begins with a 3-0 Maryland squad that comes to Michigan Stadium to close out the September portion of the 2022 opening month, before its first legitimate road test at Iowa to kick off the month of October.

Here are the three overreactions.

1. UConn was Michigan’s toughest non-conference threat

Yes, the Huskies had a win under their resume coming into Saturday, but that meant nothing with the outcome of the shutout. That makes this an overreaction. Hawaii put up more points and Colorado State actually scored on this feisty Michigan football defense. All three are not going to be victorious much this season, so it won’t help the Wolverines as we get deeper into the calendar.

The Huskies were abysmal on offense and were overmatched defensively. Michigan did not underperform in any of these three beatings, which is what everyone knew they were going to do. As Blake Corum said afterward we don’t know how good they are until they face some adversity that will prove if they can hang with the cream of the crop of college football.

They did get to use a ton of subs in garbage time which can become useful down the stretch, should any emergency situations occur. With Cade McNamara’s injury happening it leaves a hole at the backup quarterback position for the next couple of weeks, so keeping J.J. McCarthy healthy will be the goal until he returns to the lineup.
