3. Special teams contributed splendidly

Despite missing a whopping 62 yard field goal attempt before the break, Michigan football’s special teams had a rewarding performance in the win. Moody’s kick had the accuracy, but not the distance. Later in the conclusion of it all reserve kicker Tommy Doman got to kick the final extra point of the 59-0 beatdown. Jake Thaw returned punts for the second straight week as well.

Caden Kolesar proved once again that he can be a play maker on special teams with a blocked punt in the first half. It ended with a Blake Corum touchdown run. All-American punting candidate Brad Robbins got into the mix as well with a punt that was downed inside the five yard line to add to the achievements of Jay Harbaugh’s special teams guys.

The highlight was the A.J. Henning punt return for a score though. He was bound to ace one sooner or later with his speed and ability to make moves facing smaller competition. He got used as a running back on a running play which shows off why is versatility is so precious to this squad.
