Staff Roundtable for Michigan Football vs UConn and much more
By Josh LaFond
Give us a final score and game prediction
Cameron: I think Michigan beats UConn by a similar score to the Hawaii game. My score prediction is Michigan 63, UConn 7.
I think JJ has another flawless or near-flawless game. My prediction is 18-20, 265 yards, 4 passing TDs, 3 rush for 60 yards, and one rushing TD. I predict the defense to get 5 sacks and two TOs (two picks). What I want to see is JJ and the starters play a little more into the second half. They (mainly meaning JJ) need to get used to playing full games because that’s obviously going to happen at various points this season. It’s about getting reps. It’s about building that chemistry. I understand wanting to limit potential injuries, but the starters need to slowly build their way up to playing a full contest. This probably won’t happen, and again, I completely understand why, but in my opinion, it should happen.
Maddie: This game is going to be an offensive explosion for Michigan football. If they keep JJ in longer than just the first half, I wouldn’t be surprised if they score 60 on them, and JJ could even throw for 300 yards. All of our starters have to get used to playing a full game like Cameron said, especially because they will be for the most part from here on out.
My score prediction is Michigan 55, UConn 7. It is going to be a blowout, but it will be a fun one!
Jared: I expected Michigan to cover the enormous spread against Hawaii, but they didn’t, winning by a slim margin of 46 points. Coincidentally enough, that’s about what the spread is this week against Uconn and I am projecting them to cover again. I think the offense shines again with a clean performance from the O-Line, and the defense continues its dominance against lesser opponents.
Give me 59-10, Michigan.
Brandon: The Wolverines are favored by over 47 points this week which seems like a lot but I think Michigan will easily cover and should have little issue dominating in this game. If McCarthy can produce anywhere near the numbers he did last week Michigan’s offense will have no problem putting up over 50 points on the Huskies. Their defense should also have a good showing, especially in the secondary.
My final score prediction is 52-10 Michigan.
Josh: Michigan will come out and look to establish itself as it always does in these kinds of games: take the will early on the ground and set up play-action for a quick score. I see a healthy dose of Blake Corum stretch runs outside tackle taking up chunks, and then a deep shot on a play action to Andrel Anthony opening up a 7-0 lead early. This should be a blowout and a good time up as we enter Big Ten play.
Michigan wins it 59-6.
Chris Peterson: The Wolverines will be sharp once again, especially on the offensive side of the ball. UConn runs the ball better than expected and this game will be somewhat similar to Hawaii in that Michigan football will win easily but not cover the spread, in part because it goes to the bench so early.
My Michigan prediction is that Michigan wins it 52-10.
