The win over Hawaii was positive for Michigan football recruiting in multiple ways including in the recruitment of five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis.

When it was reported that the five-star quarterback in the 2024 class, Jadyn Davis, was taking another visit to Michigan football, I took that as a very good sign.

For one, Davis has now taken three unofficial visits to Ann Arbor since the month of June and you never know, he could make another stop before making his final decision.

Yet, the fact that he visited during the Hawaii game when J.J. McCarthy got his first career start was a stroke of genius by Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines.

Davis saw a young, talented quarterback get promoted to the No. 1 job after earning it. Davis also saw a completely different offense. That means no disrespect to Cade McNamara. I’ll always love that dude and we as Michigan football fans owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude.

But this offense looks different with McCarthy running it and if Michigan football can get Davis to commit, he could possibly take over in 2024. And Harbaugh was showing him on Saturday, that if he’s good enough, he’ll be rewarded.

The offense generated more explosive plays and Davis told 247 sports, Steve Wiltfong, that his family had a great experience.

Davis also told Chad Simmons of On3 that he has a “high interest” in Michigan football and that he “loves” head coach Jim Harbaugh. The other thing of note is that it sounds like Harbaugh continues to play an active role in this recruitment which is huge.

The Wolverines are the projected leader according to the On3 prediction machine. There aren’t any crystal ball projections yet from 247 sports but there are some expert picks at Rivals that have him committing to Michigan football.

Davis told Simmons he wanted to commit shortly after his season, which means a decision could come in the next few months, and with the momentum, Michigan football has in this recruitment and on the field, I take that as a really good sign for the Wolverines.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s over by a long shot, especially with Georgia in the mix.

A key crystal ball for Michigan football

So far, there has only been one new expert projection coming off this weekend but it’s still a big one for Michigan football and it’s in the 2024 class.

Brian Robinson is a four-star defensive/edge rusher out of Youngstown, Ohio, and is ranked No. 123 overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is also ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Ohio. To be fair, the Buckeyes haven’t offered and that could change things, but Wiltfong put in a crystal ball for the Wolverines and that’s huge.

Anyone who follows Michigan football recruiting knows getting players from Ohio is important, even if the Buckeyes don’t offer (Rod Moore is an example) and a commitment from Robinson would be huge and would also add another really talented edge rusher to Michigan’s pipeline.
