We break down the odds for Michigan football and Hawaii and offer up our picks for the Rainbow Warriors against the spread.

The best part about Labor Day weekend is that the football bleeds into Monday and now, we are just days away from Michigan football being back at the Big House.

Just like last season, the second Michigan football game of the 2022 season will be a night game. Last year, Washington came to town, and that win was a jumping-off point for the Wolverines.

Since then, Michigan football has been on a roll. Saturday will be a big night and not just because Hawaii is coming to town. J.J. McCarthy will be making his first career start and many Wolverine fans believe he’ll take the job over for good.

Cade McNamara certainly didn’t stand out against Colorado State and you’d need to be blind not to realize that McCarthy is the more dynamic player, maybe the one Michigan needs to compete with the true elites of college football.

At any rate, McCarthy will finally get his start and it’s against the Rainbow Warriors who are huge underdogs. We’ll take a quick look at the spread and the other betting info, plus make our pick for Saturday night against the spread.

Michigan Football vs Hawaii odds in Week 2 college football

Michigan is a 51.5-point favorite right now according to FanDuel. The over/under is 66.5 points. There is no money line available. Right off the bat, 51.5 points seems like a lot but seeing how the Rainbow Warriors have lost two lopsided games and also considering what the Wolverines did to Colorado State, beating them 51-7, it makes sense.

Can Michigan cover though? That’s the question.

Michigan football vs Hawaii prediction Week 2 college football

Through two games, against Western Kentucky and Vanderbilt, Hawaii is allowing 56 points per game and scoring just 13.5. Timmy Chang, the former Rainbow Warriors quarterback, is the head coach now but the offense has struggled.

Hawaii is a program in a mess. The program has tons of new transfers and is on the opposite end of the spectrum from Michigan football, which looks like one of the top-5 teams in the country.

With McCarthy at quarterback, Michigan is going to light up the scoreboard. I believe he’ll make it clear who the starting quarterback should be moving forward and while 51.5 points is a hefty spread, 63-10 sounds about right to me.
