Michigan football extended a scholarship offer to Kendrick Bell this week and the brother of Ronnie Bell is now trending to the Wolverines.

Since the start of the season, recruiting has been put on the back burner just a little bit, however, there was some interesting recruiting news this week for Michigan football.

The Wolverines are hosting some important visitors on campus this weekend. Five-star QB Jadyn Davis is expected to take another unofficial visit while there have also been multiple reports about four-star cornerback Jyaire Hill visiting this weekend too.

Yet, Michigan also made some news with an interesting offer this week to Kendrick Bell, a 2023 quarterback listed as a two-star. He’s the younger brother of Ronnie Bell and even though he’s rated as a QB, Michigan isn’t recruiting the 6-foot-3, 185-pounder there.

Instead, the Wolverines want him as an athlete according to Allen Trieu of 247 sports, who placed a crystal ball projection for Michigan football soon after the offer.

Breaking down new predictions for Michigan football

Bell is a late-rising prospect and is currently ranked as the No. 43 player in the state of Missouri. He’s a dual-threat quarterback and threw for over 2,700 yards last season in addition to accounting for 30 total touchdowns (passing and rushing).

UMass and Northern Iowa have both offered Bell as a quarterback but Michigan offered this week too and the Wolverines’ offer is going to carry some weight.

With Michigan not having a QB in the 2023 class, it would be natural to assume the Wolverines are looking at Bell as a quarterback but unless plans change, they have other ideas.

With two QBs in the 2022 class, Michigan football should be fine if it passes on a 2023 QB, especially if it can keep Davis Warren from leaving in the transfer portal, and of course, land Jadyn Davis.

So Bell doesn’t sound like he’s a target there. Maybe he will play wide receiver like his brother, who also wasn’t highly recruited but could be on his way to the NFL after this season.

Bell will be re-evaluated by 247 sports as just an athlete and it will be interesting to see how that goes. But I trust the Wolverines evaluations and with Bell coming to campus for the Penn State game next month, plus the multiple crystal balls, this commitment seems inevitable.
