The defense maimed the Rams

Colorado State’s offensive line was no match for Michigan’s defensive front. The Wolverines notched up sack after sack and produced two turnovers.

The Rams went 2-11 on third downs and only scored in the fourth quarter due to a deep bomb that connected for six. Almost every fourth down that they went for ended with a turnover on downs because of Michigan’s suffocating pressure.

Mike Morris, Mazi Smith, Eyabi Anoma, Derrick Moore, and a host of others all met at the quarterback today.

The pass rush was questioned coming into the day, but it loudly put a rest to any lingering concerns anyone had about it after the win. I realize that it is only Colorado State, but it gives Michigan’s defenders confidence and momentum knowing what it is capable of moving forward.

More of the same should happen next week when a weak Hawaii bunch comes to the Big House. A critic can make all the jokes that want to about Michigan’s light schedule, but it won’t matter as long as they keep eradicating smaller competition. These are the moments that will help in pivotal situations down the road.
