Michigan Football: 3 reasons Wolverines will beat Colorado State
By Josh LaFond
3. Michigan’s leadership won’t let them look ahead
The consensus around the Michigan football program after losing to Georgia in the college football playoff last year? We are coming back with a vengeance.
The five players that were voted captain this season embody that same attitude.
Offensive captains, Cade McNamara (QB), Ronnie Bell (WR), and Erick All’s (TE) leadership will surely have the team fired up for this game. Rallied behind the idea of not sleepwalking and looking ahead.
These guys know the identity of Michigan football and helped reestablish it last season. They won’t let the men they lead fold.
On the flip side of the coin, your Wolverine defensive captains, Mike Sainristil (CB) and Mazi Smith (DT) bring a different leadership approach. While both players are not necessarily known to be vocal leaders, their presence in the locker room this game week is something that cannot be overstated.
Going against an air-raid, pass-heavy offense, leaders on this side of the ball need to be able to rally the troops if the going gets tough. And unlike some previous years, these captains have the respect of the entire locker room, and the talent to make good on their word.
