The secondary

On the back end DJ Turner is the next man up as one of Michigan’s traditionally great cover corners in its rich history. He may be the one who puts up the eye-popping stats if quarterbacks decide to even throw his way. Will Johnson will be breathing down the neck of Gemon Green for the second starter spot and it wouldn’t be a shocker if he is the gets the nod there by season’s end.

At safety, RJ Moten and Rod Moore will likely be joined with the emergence of Makari Paige. It has been reported that he will be the third safety in the secondary who completes the 4-2-5 package.

None of them are as gifted as Dax Hill was, but few are. Speaking of Hill, his spot will be filled by Mike Sainristil who was announced by coach Harbaugh as the top choice at the nickel role. He and Paige will rotate depending upon schemes.

All three levels have a wealth of experience which will help Minter acclimate to the job and further progress in his play-calling duties.

Put it all together and the defense has a lot of experience to replicate what it did for the program by forging them to a Big Ten championship in 2021. To sum it all up however Michigan’s defense shouldn’t be as stout, but the drop off won’t be so steep either.
