The program is humming along

You need to have the right culture in order to win championships and Michigan football finally got it right in 2021. Everything was about the Wolverines and what it took to win.

In previous years, too many guys were worried about their NFL future and they didn’t really lay it on the line for Michigan football. Not like Aidan Hutchinson did.

Hutchinson could have declared for the NFL draft and would have been a fairly early pick even after suffering a knee injury in 2020. But he wanted to make Michigan great again. He wanted to beat Ohio State and win the Big Ten.

And he did it. Hutch wasn’t alone. Haskins, Ross, Brad Hawkins, Chris Hinton — there are too many names to mention — they all helped change the culture and its thriving.

The team took a trip across the state of Michigan which seemed to bring the guys even closer together. Even though Harbaugh flirted with the NFL, you get no sense of that now. He’s all in and you can feel he has the pulse of this team.

I know some people still believe Harbaugh could leave for the NFL, but I believe the man. He tells the truth and I can’t help but think we have arrived at the place we all expected Michigan football to be when Jim Harbaugh was hired.

The depth and talent of this team, as well as the culture — things are humming, as they should be. It just took a little longer than some expected.
