3 reasons Michigan Football can repeat as Big Ten champs
An elite head coach
One of the biggest reasons I believe Michigan football can repeat as Big Ten champions in 2022 is Jim Harbaugh himself.
Rival fanbases have mocked him for years, and he still has more to prove, such as beating Mel Tucker, winning in Columbus, winning in the playoff, etc.
But Harbaugh made a brilliant hire in Mike Macdonald and Jesse Minter is going to fit just as well. Long-term, he’ll be a better fit I think because he’s a more talented recruiter.
Minter was also recommended by John Harbaugh before the 2021 season. So what if he struggled at Vandy? There’s an old saying about sports, a lack of talent, and chicken salad. Look it up and it will summarize the Vanderbilt experience.
With elite talent at Michigan, Minter will be just fine and last year showed that Harbaugh still has some tricks up his sleeve (the jackhammer is back!). He believes he’s found a weakness in the Buckeyes and maybe he has.
Michigan used to win by dominating the line of scrimmage and when you add in the perimeter talent (and a closing gap with the Buckeyes) there’s no reason this team can’t win the Big Ten again.
Harbaugh has proven he can outcoach Ryan Day.
Now, he just needs to do it in the Horseshoe.
