Final game-by-game predictions for Michigan Football in 2022
Michigan vs Nebraska
Nebraska is one game on the schedule that could be tougher than expected. November will be a challenge and the Huskers could be fighting for bowl eligibility. Scott Frost could be coaching for his job and that’s always a dangerous situation.
The Huskers were in a position to beat the Wolverines last year in Lincoln before a late Adrian Martinez fumble. Casey Thompson, the former Texas QB, is the quarterback now, but he’s not a proven winner either and I don’t see Nebraska leaving Ann Arbor with a win.
However, like last season, the Huskers won’t make it easy. They seem to play especially well when nothing is expected of them.
Final score: Michigan 34, Nebraska 31
Michigan vs Illinois
Illinois should be even better this year, the second season under Bret Bielema and this game gives me Rutgers vibes from last season. Tommy Devito doesn’t really scare me and the Illinois offense is going to try to run the football.
Michigan should be able to hold up fine, but just as Rutgers did, you know the Illini will try to play keep away and make it more low scoring. And with Ohio State looming the very next week, I’ll say it works…to a point.
Michigan still wins.
Final score: Michigan 24, Illinois 10
