Michigan vs Michigan State

The Ohio State game is always vital for Michigan football. But the most important game on the schedule for the 2022 season might just be Michigan State.

Mel Tucker is 2-0 against Jim Harbaugh and the Spartans have won consecutive games as an underdog. The Wolverines can’t let it happen again. Payton Thorne is going to be one of the Big Ten’s best passers and the running game will be buoyed by transfers again after Kenneth Walker went to the NFL.

The Spartans are ranked 15th in the preseason AP poll, which makes this the second-most difficult matchup on paper. Michigan football will be focused and much like the Ohio State game in 2021, the Wolverines will get a measure of revenge.

It won’t be easy though but fresh off a bye week, Michigan will win.

Final score: Michigan 38, Michigan State 28

Michigan at Rutgers

Rutgers played Michigan football to single digits a year ago and this game won’t be easy either. Gavin Wimsatt, a former top-100 QB the Wolverines recruited pretty hard, should be starting at some point this season and under Greg Schiano, the Scarlet Knights seem to be good for one upset per year.

Yet, I don’t see the Scarlet Knights holding Michigan to 20 points again. If Cade McNamara struggles as he did last season, the Wolverines will turn to McCarthy.

This game is competitive but not in the second half of the fourth quarter.
