6. Maryland (Sept. 24 home)

The fact that Maryland is in the top six should tell you that the Wolverines’ schedule isn’t overly challenging. The Terps have one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the Big Ten in Taulia Tagovailoa.

Yet, Maryland hasn’t really challenged the Wolverines as expected. Michigan simply overpowered Maryland last season and to be honest, I’m not overly concerned with the Terps in Week 6, although the pass defense will certainly be tested.

5. Nebraska (Nov. 12 home)

The Huskers gave Michigan football all it could handle in Lincoln last year and call me crazy, but I sense some Michigan vibes with this year’s Nebraska squad.

Scott Frost revamped his coaching staff and took less money (just like Harbaugh) to stick around. The Huskers have hit the transfer portal hard and former Texas starter, Casey Thompson, who led the Big 12 in TD passes last season, should help them get back to respectability.

The defense was good last year and while some of the top talents went to the NFL if Nebraska can actually get some wins early in the season and some confidence, a la Michigan in 2021, the Huskers might be as tough to beat as they were last season.
