Time for football

It’s been a long offseason for Michigan football fans and not just because we haven’t seen the Wolverines play in a game since late December.

All of the rumors about Jim Harbaugh were stressful and when he got on the plane to Minnesota, not many people expected him back.

Yet, he returned and said he will stay, “as long as Michigan will have me.”

Some believe him and some don’t. I get people being skeptical but I believe Harbaugh retires at Michigan and I also believe this year’s coaching job might be just as good as last year’s.

It’s easier to do something once you’ve done it and there is zero reason to think this program can’t be playing for the Big Ten East title in Columbus come late November.

That’s the expectation and with all the talent on this team, anything less than that would be a disappointment. It seems like that’s what Harbaugh is fighting to restore — the fact that Michigan isn’t an also-ran to Ohio State.

It will take more than one win to do it and beating Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in 2022 would certainly do the trick. It would also silence Harbaugh’s doubters, possibly for good.

However, at the end of the day, nobody expects Michigan to beat Ohio State. The Big Ten media said as much, so now, Harbaugh gets to do what he loves best — proving people wrong.
