Michigan Football: 5 must land targets as Wolverines refocus recruiting
By Kyler Kregel
4* DT Kayden McDonald (GA)
The North Gwinnett stand out is likely at or near the top of Michigan’s board for a nose tackle after seeing John Walker commit to UCF.
McDonald is 6’3, 310 lbs. and is an ideal fit to play the nose tackle position in Jesse Minter’s defense. Here’s what 247Sports analyst Cooper Petanga had to say about McDonald:
"Possesses ideal size at 6-foot-3 and 300-pounds plus, possesses limited growth potential to add additional weight to frame. Displays good athletic ability as an interior defensive lineman, showing the ability to play multiple positions on the defensive line. Exhibits good quick twitch explosiveness off the line of scrimmage with an excellent first step. Nimble for his size, possessing good initial foot and body quickness. Can with speed, quickness, and power off the line of scrimmage. Flashes heavy hands at the point of attack, in addition to good play strength, showing the ability to penetrate consistently behind the line of scrimmage. Possesses the frame and the ability to anchor the run while also adding some pass-rush ability as an interior lineman."
While winning a recruitment against Southern powers like Georgia and now Clemson are never easy, the Wolverines do get another shot to impress McDonald, as his summer visit was an unofficial one, meaning he can still take a gameday official visit this fall.
The lone Crystal Ball prediction is in favor of Clemson at the moment however.
