Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from commitment of 4-star OT Evan Link
What’s next?
The Wolverines have some pretty tangible momentum on the recruiting trail and we’ll see if that continues.
Much of the focus has been on the recruitment of five-star QB Jadyn Davis, but even adding more talented players in 2023 is going to help the overall perception of Michigan football recruiting.
The talk of NIL holding Michigan back is starting to fade and that’s because the Wolverines have gone on a run of top-500 commitments (7) since the start of July and that doesn’t include Koumba, who has received his three-star ranking but is in the 700s for the composite, although 247 sports has him as a top-500 prospect too and a top-40 edge rusher.
That’s three edge rushers ranked in the top 40 at their position with major upside, a top 500 WR and TE, two four-star offensive linemen, and a four-star LB. That doesn’t even mention two defensive commitments in 2024.
In the past month, Michigan football has landed 10 commitments and became the clear leader in the recruitment of Davis, the No. 2 QB in 2024.
So maybe we can put to rest the narrative that Michigan football recruiting is failing. The Wolverines are finding their foothold and the momentum will only grow once the season starts.
