Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from commitment of 4-star OT Evan Link
Filling a need with a big talent
Michigan football has done a great job of sending offensive linemen to the NFL and looking at the projected top six heading into 2022 and each has a future playing professional football.
That’s something that the Wolverines need to continue. When Michigan was great, it routinely had NFL-caliber players up front and Sherrone Moore has already proven himself to be an elite recruiter.
There was some criticism about his work in 2023 but remember, he was promoted to offensive coordinator and probably had to find his bearings. To be sure, the criticism was unwarranted as Moore has regained his star status after reeling in Amir Herring and beating out Penn State for Evan Link.
Link wasn’t really even on the radar as a possible commitment. No one was talking about him prior to the weekend and for Moore to get him in for a visit and a commitment, well that’s just one hell of a job.
It also fills a big need. Michigan took a pair of three-star tackles last cycle and needed to stock up on talented lineman. There were some misses but after the additions of Herring and Link, the outlook is much, much better.
