(2.) Ohio State Buckeyes

Offensive Line coach: Justin Frye (1st season)
Projected line-up: LT Paris Johnson Jr.*, LG Donovan Jackson, C Luke Wypler*, RG Matthew Jones, RT Dawand Jones*

Summary: Johnson started at guard for a chunk of last season, but now slides out to left tackle after the graduation of Thayer Munford. He’s likely the star of this unit, as his skill set is significantly more conducive to tackle duties rather than inside.

With his smooth kick slide, athleticism, and excellent hands, Johnson profiles as a potential early first-round NFL Draft selection next spring at tackle. The two starting guard spots are pretty well-set at this point, with the former five-star in Jackson and the senior Jones commanding the majority of the reps throughout spring.

Luke Wypler returns as a second-year starter inside and is a pretty quality player himself. RT Dawand Jones also returns as a starter, and overall had a very strong season last year.

The biggest boost, however, comes in the form of a new offensive line coach. Justin Frye comes over from UCLA where he helped orchestrate top-15 rushing attacks in each of the last two seasons.

Ohio State is still expected to be a pass-happy offense under Ryan Day, but a strong trio of offensive linemen returning plus TreVeyon Henderson should see the Buckeyes improve in yards per game from last year’s showing at 44th nationally.
