Michigan Football: A bad sign for 2023 target Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq has been a top target of Michigan football in the 2023 recruiting class but he’s now been projected to Iowa State.
The guy that many Michigan football fans wanted as their head coach at one point in time, looks to be on the verge of beating out U-M for a top target in the 2023 class.
That player is four-star athlete Kenyon Sadiq, who hails from the state of Idaho. If that sounds familiar, it’s because Michigan football landed the No. 1 player in the state of Idaho in the 2022 class in four-star tight end Colson Loveland.
Loveland was a former wide receiver that moved to tight end and when Michigan football first offered Sadiq who is 6-foot-3, 220 pounds out of Idaho Falls, Idaho, it seemed like tight end would be the perfect position for him.
However, the Wolverines seem to want him more as a wide receiver with Ron Bellamy being the main recruiter. Iowa State has stuck with recruiting him as a tight end and it seems like the Cyclones could be on the verge on winning this recruitment after a crystal ball projection from an Iowa State insider on Monday morning.
Nick Osen made the prediction and used a confidence level of six on a scale of 1-10. It sounds like a commitment is coming soon. However, he also indicated that he didn’t think the recruitment was over and that means Michigan football could still have a chance.
Michigan football has work to do
The On3 prediction machine has favored the Cyclones for a while now too. Matt Campbell is a really strong recruiter and Iowa State has a great culture.
Both programs have done a good job of churning out tight ends but Iowa State has their tight ends coach on him, while Bellamy, the wide receivers coach, has taken the lead role for the Wolverines.
Sadiq visited both programs in June along with Washington State and Washington. It will be interesting to see if he visits anywhere this weekend. If so, it could be telling.
Otherwise, it’s clear the Wolverines have ground to make up and time is running out.
