New Michigan Football targets in 2023 talk potential visits
Michigan football has been expanding its offensive line board in the 2023 recruiting class and here’s the latest on a pair of new targets.
One thing that Michigan football fans need to remember is that we still are a long way away from early national signing day and then traditional signing day in February.
Michigan signed and picked up a lot of late commitments in each of the past two cycles and I fully expect that to happen again in 2023. For starters, I believe Michigan is going to win double-digit games (at least) next season and that will help recruiting once again.
Plus, there are still some solid targets on the board, which has been expanding, and some of these recruitments are still pretty wide open.
That’s pretty true of three-star offensive lineman Nathan Efobi, who called Michigan a dream school and also told Brice Marich of 247 sports, “It changes a lot because I didn’t expect the offer. They’re of course in the top five.
Efobi also told Marich (subscription required) that he’s really close with David Ojabo and that their moms are also close.
Winning over the mom is always a good thing in recruiting so this could help Michigan football and better yet, the top-500 recruit (in the 247 sports composite rankings) said he plans on visiting.
Efobi is ranked a little lower according to the On3 consensus (No. 556) but that service actually has him ranked in the top 100 in its own rankings, so this is a golden opportunity for Michigan to land a talented player.
They need probably 3-4 offensive linemen in this class if not more, so Efobi should quickly become a top priority as others like Miami, Penn State, and Georgia Tech are also pushing. He’s from the state of Georgia.
Nick Fattig is also a three-star according to the 247 sports composite rankings but a four-star in 247 sports own rankings and while he’s committed to Texas Tech, he told Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider that he’s considering a visit.
“Championship team year in and year out. It is a well-developed team and takes football very serious,” Fattig said.
Fattig is listed as an offensive tackle and the Wolverines desperately need some movement at that position after striking out on others. He’s out of League City, Texas, and committed soon after he was offered by Texas Tech but the Red Raiders are his top offer, at least before Michigan.
If the Wolverines get him on campus for an official visit, then watch out for a flip. As far as Efobi, Michigan can hopefully get him on campus for the BBQ and then once again this fall.
Either way, the focus should be on getting both prospects to Ann Arbor more than once. That’s probably the minimum of what it will take to win their commitments.
