We have another update on former Michigan basketball women’s star Naz Hillmon, as well as future Wolverine Youssef Khayat.

Some basketball analysts seemed to think that Naz Hillmon wasn’t going to be able to cut it in the WNBA. They questioned her shooting ability and whether a traditional big could make it in this modern era of basketball.

She was drafted after the first round in the 2022 WNBA draft, becoming just the second former women’s player at Michigan to do so and after starting her career a little slow in terms of playing time, she’s taken advantage of some recent injuries and is showing she belongs.

Hillmon has started the last three games for the Atlanta Dream and that was after posting a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double in a big role off the bench.

In a starting role, she’s averaging 6.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and one block, as well as more than a steal per game. She’s also dished out an average of more than two assists per game as a starter with Atlanta posting a 2-1 record.

In 25 total games this season, Hillmon is averaging 3.7 points and 4.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, while also shooting 48 percent overall from the field.
