The 2022 Michigan Wolverines have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. But there are several holes to fill. What should fans be concerned about going into the season?

The talent this year’s Wolverines bring to the table is as loaded as we’ve seen in quite some time.

Star wide-receiver, Ronnie Bell returns from injury. Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards look to establish themselves as one the best 1-2 punches in Michigan football history.

The offensive line brings nearly everyone back. And with the addition of the Rimington Award finalist Olu Oluwatimi, look to repeat as the nation’s best offensive line.

Additionally, following a Freshman All-American selection, stud linebacker Junior Colson launches into his sophomore season with his eyes on more accolades.

You may be thinking at this point, “what in god’s green earth do I have to worry about?” Or “what should I be looking for this offseason?”

Well, let’s get into it.

How will Michigan football replace Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo?

The Wolverines won’t replace either. But they don’t have to.

Having generational players at any position raises expectations. Unfortunately for this year’s team, having a Heisman runner-up who was the #2 pick in the 2021 NFL draft, and another who was a second-round selection leaves holes to be filled.

There are guys we expect to fill in — including stalwart defensive end Mike Morris — all have limited experience. Is that a problem?

Not necessarily.

There are several options on both sides (anchor/edge) but they will need to prove themselves.

Because of the unproven talent at the position group, it’s something fans should keep an eye on as we approach the kickoff of the 2022 season.
