Bold Prediction #2: Donovan Edwards is the new bell-cow running back.

The one-two punch of Blake Corum’s lightning to Hassan Haskins’ thunder will go down as one of Michigan fans’ favorite running back tandems. Lest we forget about Donovan Edwards.

The former 5-star Detroit product showed flashes last season, most notably against Maryland as seen in the video below.

The versatility he brings to the running back room is something Michigan football hasn’t had in years. The ability demonstrated to catch the ball out of the backfield, run routes as fluid as a wide receiver, and most importantly as a running back, hit the open hole, and accelerate through it are what will keep in on the field.

This is no knock whatsoever on Blake Corum. Corum is an NFL-caliber running back in his own right and will get plenty of carries this season as well.

But the x-factor talent Edwards brings is something very few others have on offense. Because of that, I am predicting he commands the same role that Hassan Haskins had last year — the bell-cow running back of the Michigan offense.
