Caleb Houstan – Orlando Magic

Last but certainly not least, we have Caleb Houstan, who really showed out in his small sample size for the Magic, especially in the first game. Basically, he had to show that he could be more consistent and make his shots, and he definitely did that.

The Magic’s roster is kind of backloaded with a lot of capable forwards, so it will be hard for Caleb to see a lot of playing time as a rookie, but if he keeps up his hot shooting into training camp, and the preseason, then it will definitely be very hard for the Magic staff to keep him out of the rotation.

I know fans are going to wonder why he wasn’t making these shots consistently at Michigan, but, I explained that phenomenon in a separate article already. The NBA has so much more spacing, and passing lanes open up a lot more in the NBA, so it’s no wonder that Houstan got so many open 3-pointers. His stats did drop off quite a bit in the last three games of Summer League, but overall, he still had a good summer league.

There’s no question he’s going to be a much better shooter in the NBA than he showed in Ann Arbor, and we wish him all the best with the Orlando Wolverines (because they have so many former Michigan players on their roster right now).
