Wide receiver

It’s been a long time since Michigan football was as loaded with wide receiver talent as the Wolverines appear to be heading into the 2022 season, but this group reminds me of the glory days when Braylon Edwards and company were topping the depth chart.

Ronnie Bell is coming back from a knee injury and should be 100 percent, plus Cornelius Johnson looks like an NFL wideout to me. You’ve also got Andrel Anthony, Roman Wilson, and A.J. Henning (you can see why Mike Sainristil moved to defense) and that’s not all.

Sainristil is probably still going to play some offense too and Darrius Clemons is too talented not to get some chances this year too.

Frankly, it wouldn’t have shocked me if someone like Wilson transferred during the offseason just because there are going to be so many mouths to feed. But the staff did a great job of spreading the ball around last season and I don’t see it being an issue.

I do see Ronnie Bell and Anthony emerging as the top targets this year, along with Henning, who I expect to have a much bigger role.

But Johnson is too established and too talented not to start. Bell will probably start on the outside or in the slot, along with Anthony and Henning. Those are my top four predictions, but as you can see, this position boasts as much talent as any on the roster, and earning snaps won’t be easy.
