Breaking down where Michigan football stands with its top targets in the 2023 recruiting class as we reset the Wolverines’ recruiting board.

Now that Michigan football has finally built momentum and received a slew of commits in the past few weeks, it is as good a time as any to take a step back and look at Michigan’s board from a bird’s eye view.

Over the past few months, a lot of Michigan’s targets have been scooped up by various other programs, so the board isn’t super deep as Michigan has struck out on more than their fair share of talent, but the board can always be reset, and there are still some high-level guys available for the Wolverines to pluck.

Let’s look at the best available and most realistic targets remaining in the 2023 recruiting class.

Side note: Once football season starts, and we separate and figure out the contenders from the pretenders, some more high-end talent will definitely be available, as decommits will surely happen, so just keep that in mind.

Archbishop Carroll (D.C.) five-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor, No. 7 overall, No. 1 ATH

If there was one guy left on the recruiting board that could potentially save Michigan’s class, and (depending on a bunch of factors) get Michigan’s class to squeak into the top-10 somehow, a commitment from Harbor would go a long way.

Harbor has been recruited by Michigan football for a long time, and we’ve discussed this guy almost in the same breathe as a Dante Moore or CJ Carr.

Harbor has been to campus but not for an official visit because he is a monster track and field athlete, very very fast, and his track schedule leaves him extremely busy.

There was talk about Michigan recruiting him on the edge, but Michigan already picked up two edge guys recently in Collins Acheampong, Enow Etta, and now Aymeric Koumba, so that ship has sailed.

Also, Harbor wants to play wide receiver, so Michigan is recruiting him as a WR. Imagine what he could do with the ball in his hands.

Michigan gave his track coach’s son a walk-on spot, so they are doing everything in their power to reel him in. The next step is to get him on campus for some visits and some football games.
