Could 5-star QB Jadyn Davis reclassify to 2023?
After Michigan football missed on class of 2024 five-star in-state QB recruit CJ Carr, and then followed it up with a miss on five-star class of 2023 QB recruit Dante Moore, the questions and anger started to rear their ugly head directed at Michigan’s coaching staff and some of their recruiting tactics.
Since the Dante Moore miss though, Michigan has gotten four four-star player commits in the last two weeks (Amir Herring, Collins Acheampong, Enow Etta, Semaj Bridgeman) which is a kind-of-reassuring turn of events that not everything might not be as dire as it seems, and Michigan’s recruiting is finally building momentum.
One player who wasn’t really talked about a few months ago, but has really gotten the attention of Michigan’s coaching staff, media, and fans alike, is class of 2024 QB recruit Jadyn Davis.
If you haven’t been paying attention, or need a quick refresher, I’ll catch you up really really fast. Jadyn Davis a the #2 QB recruit (#6 player overall in the country) and has outwardly expressed his love for Michigan football on numerous occasions throughout his recruitment.
He was recently at a football camp last month (with EJ Holland in attendance) and was visibly pro-Michigan with the gear he chose to wear:

Now, this is obviously a nice development, because it’s not every day that you see a recruit so outwardly express their love for a program, but he’s a class of ’24 guy, and this recruitment is just getting started, so I’m going to hold my horses on getting too excited over this video.
But what if Michigan football got Jadyn Davis to reclassify to 2023?
Michigan should do everything in its power to get Jadyn Davis to reclassify
Now that Michigan doesn’t have to worry about Dante Moore or CJ Carr anymore, they can officially turn all their attention to Jadyn Davis.
There have been rumors circulating from the vast expanses of the Michigan Twitter world that Michigan has attempted to get Jadyn Davis to reclassify to 2023, but I don’t know how true that is, because none of Michigan’s insiders have truly revealed any information about it.
If Michigan really is at least attempting to get Jadyn Davis to reclassify, this is HUGE news for the Wolverines.
Jadyn would obviously be Michigan’s prized recruit for the class of 2023, and would immediately elevate an already really good QB room to the upper, upper echelons of the country, like top 3-5.
Now, again, these are only rumors, and none of the insiders have written anything about this, but it would make sense for both parties, as Jadyn Davis would have all the attention on him, as there would be no other QB recruits for Jadyn to worry about Michigan truly recruiting, and Michigan would get their next successor to J.J. McCarthy.
Who knows, Jadyn could be a silent commit to Michigan football right now. He might not even have told the coaching staff. It could be a secret. Sometimes, guys do silent commit, but nobody knows for sure.
All I know is that Jadyn seems like he wants to be a Michigan Wolverine, and Michigan needs to do everything in its power to convince him to reclassify.
Even if he doesn’t reclassify (which is the highly likely scenario instead), Michigan needs to recruit him like the world is ending. They can’t afford to miss on another elite QB recruit that likes Michigan (ie: Dante Moore, CJ Carr).
Our own Chris Peterson mentioned another QB recruit, Brady Drogosh, a four-star class of ’23 Cincinnati commit, but if you can get Jadyn Davis earlier, you take him twelve times out of 10.
It would also eliminate any possibility of other schools being able to build a great rapport with him, and then offer him a massive NIL which he couldn’t refuse.
I’d put his chances of reclassifying at pretty unlikely, but in today’s college football, crazier things have happened. I just know a Jadyn Davis commit would make us all forget about missing on Dante Moore and CJ Carr. Just food for thought.
