California

Just like with Stanford, UCal is primarily an academic institution, although they do have two really famous former alumni in QB Aaron Rodgers and former NFL RB Marshawn Lynch.

They would not offer much in the Big Ten, and would surely be one of the worst programs every season, but, if they made the move, it would be to primarily benefit the academic department with an influx of money.

Just like Stanford, there hasn’t been much talk surrounding Cal. It wouldn’t surprise me either if UCal ended up joining the Big-12, but I think it depends on what Stanford does.

I think those two will try to stick together, wherever they go. There’s also the highly likely scenario where Stanford and UCal decide to just stay in the PAC-12.

Nobody knows, but I put UCal’s chances as doubtful as of right now.
