SG: Kobe Bufkin, Isaiah Barnes

This Michigan basketball team is going to be young. There are seven players with freshman eligibility on the roster and Joey Baker is the only player who won’t have eligibility after this season.

So the Wolverines are counting on a lot of young talent and one of the guys being counted on the most is former McDonald’s All-American Kobe Bufkin.

The top-50 recruit from Grand Rapids really needs to take a leap in 2022-23 and I believe he will. That’s why he’ll be in the starting lineup for the Wolverines at the two next season. At 6-foot-4, he’s got all the tools needed.

Bufkin can create his own shot, and get to the bucket and he’s a pretty good shooter too, plus with some added strength, and more confidence as a second-year guy, he should be in line for a jump.

The 2-3 spots are going to be a huge key for this roster. Jett Howard is expected to be the three and if Bufkin and Jett are productive, the ceiling for this team goes way up.

Isaiah Barnes didn’t see much action last season but coaches continue to talk him up. He’ll need to improve defensively, just like Bufkin, but he’s another guy to watch as a 2/3 combo wing.

But if he doesn’t seem ready for minutes at the two, Llewellyn could get some run there and Jett should also see minutes there too.
