When it comes to the latest recruiting projections, there is some good news for Michigan football and some news that isn’t so good.

No matter how you slice it, this is a big week on the recruiting trail for Michigan football as a number of key targets are set to announce their decisions.

One of those is three-star wideout Fredrick Moore and right now, things look pretty good in terms of the Wolverines landing a commitment from the explosive receiver on Friday.

But top-100 defensive end Jaxon Howard is also set to announce on Friday, as is four-star defensive end Collins Acheampong.

While Michigan football had been trending with expert predictions for Acheampong, a player who had a similar career path to David Ojabo, a recent visit to Miami put his recruitment back into the 50/50 range and despite no crystal ball projections changing, the Hurricanes are a concern.

If NIL winds up being the deciding factor, you can foresee the Wolverines losing this one and with Howard, it looks like things could be slipping away as Steve Wiltfong, the lead recruiting analyst for 247 sports put in a crystal ball for LSU with a confidence level of six (1-10 scale).

Minnesota, Miami, and Michigan are all in the mix too and Howard just visited Miami. The Wolverines never received an expert projection for any of the recruiting sites after his official visit, so it’s not shocking to see LSU get one.

However, it seems like a decision hasn’t been made yet, so who knows. With Acheampong, Miami feels like the biggest threat but LSU is in the mix as well. Howard and Acheampong are deciding about the same time on Friday.

It’s hard to see that happening for Michigan with its recent lack of momentum but the Wolverines have had a lot of success developing edge rushers, so you never know.

Some positive news for Michigan football

While those recruitments feel like they are on shaky ground, along with possibly Enow Etta’s, My’Keil Gardner was projected by another expert to the Wolverines.

The defensive tackle is ranked No. 438 in the 2023 class by the On3 consensus rankings. He’s 6-foot-3, 287 pounds, and is from Arizona.

At linebacker, following the decommitment of top-100 prospect Raylen Wilson, numerous experts from 247 sports have added crystal balls for Semaj Bridgeman, a four-star LB from Philly.

He’s 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, and is ranked 305th overall in the 247 composite rankings. Bridgeman isn’t Wilson but a four-star addition of any kind would be a big positive at this point.
