The recruiting of the EDGE position has been interesting for Michigan football but multiple commitments could be coming this week including one on Wednesday.

When it comes to pass rushers, Michigan football shouldn’t have much trouble attracting top talent, especially after what Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo did last season, not to mention all the other EDGE rushers who have been drafted under Jim Harbaugh.

But the Wolverines still don’t have a pass rusher committed in the 2023 recruiting class, however, that should change soon, hopefully, this week.

Michigan football is actually in the mix for a slew of pass rushers that are deciding this week. One of those is Collins Acheampong, who has been trending with Michigan predictions but took a visit to Miami last weekend, which appeared to make a big move.

Jaxon Howard, a top-100 EDGE target, also visited Miami this past weekend, as well as LSU prior to that. He visited Michigan and seemed to have a strong relationship with Mike Elston but it’s hard to read where his commitment is headed and both Collins and Howard are set to announce on Friday.

Enow Etta, another EDGE target, is also expected to decide soon. He was supposed to visit Stanford or Alabama last weekend (before the dead period) but didn’t make either trip, which bodes well for the Wolverines who lead with his crystal ball projections and are the overwhelming favorite to land him via the On3 prediction machine.

Another EDGE target deciding Wednesday

Yet, before all of those recruits make their decisions, three-star EDGE rusher Tyler Thompson will announce his commitment on Wednesday and there’s a good chance it will be for Michigan.

Out of Cary, North Carolina, Thompson is listed at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, and is ranked No. 656 overall in the 2023 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

However, in-state school North Carolina is also in the mix and the Tar Heels hosted Thompson last weekend for an official visit. Michigan did the same on the weekend of June 17.

The only crystal ball projections in right now are for the Wolverines, but we’ll see if that changes before the announcement.

Mack Brown and the Tar Heels have built a strong recruiting operation and with him being from North Carolina, you can’t rule them out. But with Michigan’s history of EDGE development, the Wolverines should have a solid chance of getting their eighth 2023 commitment on Wednesday.
