It sounded like top Michigan football target Enow Etta was going to Alabama this weekend for an official visit but reports are saying it didn’t happen.

Enow Etta is a top target for the Wolverines in the 2023 recruiting class for a reason. He’s ranked in the top 150 according to both the 247 sports composite rankings and On3 consensus rankings.

Both recruiting sites also have Michigan football as the leader. All of the crystal ball projections are for the Wolverines right now and U-M also has a 96.2-percent chance of him committing to Michigan football based on the On3 prediction machine.

EJ Holland of The Wolverine is one recruiting expert who has projected Etta to the Wolverines. Michigan State also had some buzz at one point and Etta was also interested in Stanford. His top four included MSU, Stanford, and Alabama.

Stanford was supposed to get an official visit this weekend, but Etta canceled that trip and was then supposed to visit Alabama. However, that trip didn’t happen according to EJ Holland (subscription required).

A good sign for Michigan football

Etta got to hang out with Aidan Hutchinson during his official visit to Michigan football and he’s also talked about how he loves the academic side of things at U-M too.

Last week, Etta said a decision was coming soon and now that we know he didn’t visit Alabama, it seems like Michigan football is in a good position.

Stanford seemed like the biggest threat prior to the reported visit to Alabama, but it’s hard to see him committing to the Tide after not visiting there. Michigan is a strong academic school just like Stanford but the football program is lights years ahead.

If you consider what Michigan has done with the development of edge rushers, it should be hard for Etta to say no and it’s starting to feel like he won’t.

However, this recruitment has been all over the place and for Michigan, the verbal commitment can’t come soon enough.
