Michigan football really needs some momentum on the recruiting trail and landing four-star DE Enow Etta would certainly help.

Enow Etta is one of Michigan football’s top targets in the 2023 recruiting class and he is one of the many recruits that will be on campus this weekend for an official visit.

It’s going to be an important visit for the Wolverines, who seem to be in a position to lock down his commitment. Etta was at Michigan State last week and there was some buzz about a commitment, but that didn’t happen.

Etta confirmed that he was still going to visit Michigan football this weekend and then, the lead recruiting expert for 247 sports, Steve Wiltfong, flipped his crystal ball from Michigan State to Michigan football and said Stanford was the main competition.

This isn’t the first expert projection for Enow Etta. There have been multiple picks for Michigan football over at On3.com and also some Futurecast picks at Rivals too.

But the switch from Wiltfong is huge, and so is the tidbit that the Cardinal is the other main team to beat here. Etta takes his academics seriously and there is no better combination of football and academics than Michigan.

Etta is ranked 124th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings and is 19th among all defensive linemen at 6-foot-4.5 and 260 pounds. He’s got the potential to be an edge rusher or a guy who could move around a little like Mike Morris. He’s also ranked 58th overall in 247 sports own rankings for 2023, which tells you what kind of prospect he is.

Now, Michigan football just needs to close.

Another big-time athlete that will be on campus this weekend is defensive end/tight end Jaxon Howard. He’s 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, and ranked 102 overall in the On3 consensus rankings.

The Wolverines have been pushing for him at tight end and he tweeted this about his visit to Michigan football on Wednesday.

It’s Victors Weekend and it will be an opportunity for Mike Elston and the Wolverines to try and close this out. It’s interesting because Howard could play either side of the ball, but with Michigan football’s ability to develop edge rushers and send them to the NFL, that seems like the best bet.

Although, the tight end development hasn’t been bad either. Erick All and other tight ends could get drafted in 2023.

In terms of Howard’s recruitment, the On3 prediction machine shows a tight race between Minnesota, Miami, and Michigan football. The Gophers have the best chance according to the On3 prediction machine, but Miami is a close second and the Wolverines are still in it.

No team has a better than 30-percent chance, which means this recruitment is really wide open and if Michigan football can blow away Howard this weekend, it could be on its way towards a huge commitment in the 2023 recruiting class.
