Slowly Michigan football is starting to build momentum in the 2023 class and after some recent expert projections, it is the favorite for 4-star Enow Etta.

Michigan football fans have been wondering when the momentum was going to shift and kick in for the 2023 recruiting class.

The month of June is always big for Michigan football and it appears as though the summer is when the Wolverines will finally see their class start to flourish.

There are expected to be 12 official visitors on campus this weekend and there are some possible commitments on the horizon, maybe as soon as this weekend or next week.

One recruit that will be on campus soon, but not this weekend, is four-star defensive lineman Enow Etta out of Texas.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman out of Colleyville, Texas is the 139th-overall prospect in the 2023 class according to the On3 consensus rankings but he’s also ranked 18th among defensive linemen.

Michigan State seemed to be the leader for Etta and was trending with crystal ball projections back in April. However, Sam Spiegelman, a national analyst from On3 put an expert pick in with 70 percent confidence as did Marshall Levenson of The Wolverine, who put his confidence at 80.

Michigan football is now the favorite

With those predictions factored in, Michigan football has a 73-percent chance to win Etta’s recruitment. But that doesn’t mean it’s over.

The defensive lineman will visit Michigan State this weekend and they aren’t going to give in without a fight. Yet, he will be at Michigan after that. He could take more visits but Stanford is an interesting player in his recruitment.

It shows a strong interest in academics, which is another reason Michigan football would make sense. The Wolverines also have shown a penchant for developing edge rushers and EDGE could be a position for Etta according to his 247 sports scouting report:

"“As you watch him over the last two seasons his development is very encouraging as his motor and physicality are just a couple of the things that stand-out. He has position versatility that can see him play either end spot or even line up inside on pass-rush downs. He is the type of player that is a multiple-year Power-5 starter. Along with this, he has all the tools to be an All-Conference performer and see the NFL once his college days are over as and early-round selection.”"

Etta is going to be on campus for Victors Weekend and that’s when the Michigan football staff will need to close and secure a commitment not long after.

Next. Is Michigan on commitment watch?. dark

It’s good to see the Wolverines trending in the right direction with a high-level recruit. We haven’t seen enough of that yet in the 2023 class but I have a feeling that’s going to change.
