Michigan football is hosting a number of top targets this weekend but a few others are trending to other programs.

No matter how you slice it, it’s been a bad week for Michigan football recruiting. The Wolverines’ top overall target in the 2023 class, Dante Moore is visiting Oregon this weekend and it looks like he’s poised to commit to the Ducks.

Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports dropped a crystal ball projection for Oregon on Thursday and other recruiting experts for On3.com did the same thing.

Until Moore makes his announcement, you never know, Michigan football could change his mind or maybe he will have a hard time actually leaving home. But for all intents and purposes, it seems like Michigan has missed on yet another five-star in-state QB.

Yet, the hits keep on coming.

Michigan football did its best with five-star wide receiver Johntay Cook and hosted him for an official visit this week, but after Arch Manning committed to Texas, Cook who is taking an official visit to Austin started trending to the Longhorns.

Cook is a five-star and ranked 35th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings and he’s a dynamic talent. He’s 6-foot, 170 pounds and while Michigan football made his top three, Texas and Texas A&M have been the favorites and Texas now seems like a done deal.

2023 Offensive line target also projected to Iowa

Chris Terek is a 6-foot-6, 3-star offensive tackle that grew up watching Michigan football and was a fan, however, Iowa has pulled ahead and received four crystal ball projections for the Glen Ellyn, Illinois prospect.

He’s ranked 630th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings and Michigan hosted him for an official visit this month, along with some other offensive tackles such as Logan Howland, but the Wolverines haven’t gained traction with any of them and Terek is now a heavy Iowa lean.

Michigan is expected to get some commitments around the first of July, but it would be nice if the program could make some gains this weekend with one of the five-star recruits on campus or another key target like Kenyon Sadiq.
