Shore up Raylen Wilson

Michigan football has struggled to build momentum so far in the 2023 class but finally appears to be on the verge of doing so.

One thing that could blunt that momentum though is losing the only top-100 prospect committed in the class right now and that’s four-star linebacker Raylen Wilson who is ranked No. 81 overall according to the On3 consensus rankings and fourth among linebackers.

Thanks in large part to the efforts of George Helow, Michigan landed Wilson’s commitment in December and has been defending it ever since. Georgia and Florida both hosted Wilson for official visits this month, yet he saved the Wolverines for last.

Wilson has still been tweeting positive things about Michigan including encouraging things to other Michigan recruits. He’s also coming for “Victors Weekend” and will be there as Michigan football gets its Big Ten championship rings.

Michigan needs to recruit Wilson just like he’s any other uncommitted recruit at this point and try to wow him. If the Wolverines do that, maybe they can hold his commitment but it will be a challenge and this weekend is the best chance for U-M to keep him in the fold.
