Michigan Basketball: Jordan Poole wows again as Warriors one win away
Jordan Poole showed his flair for the dramatic again making another buzzer-beating shot as the Warriors won a critical game 5 in the NBA finals.
People mocked Jordan Poole when he declared that he was leaving Michigan basketball early for the NBA draft and others mocked the Golden State Warriors when they selected him in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft.
But who’s laughing now?
Poole and the Warriors as they are now just one win away from winning a fourth NBA championship in the era of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. But it didn’t happen just because of those guys.
Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and a bunch of others helped Golden State get back to this point and in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Poole showed off his magic touch again.
With Golden State trailing Boston by two points as the clock wound down in the third quarter, Poole got the ball just across halfcourt, took a dribble, and banked in a 3-pointer.
It was the second time in this series that Poole gave Golden State a jolt of momentum with a buzzer-beater at the end of the quarter. It happened in Game 2 when the Warriors evened the series and Poole delivered in a huge spot again.
After that, Golden State was able to take over in the fourth quarter, and Wiggins, thanks to his 26 points and 13 rebounds, led the Warriors to a 104-94 win, which has them one win away from an NBA championship.
Poole scored 14 points when it was all said and done but he was 3-for-6 from deep in the win and knocked down all three of his free throw attempts.
Golden State wasn’t a team that people were talking about a lot at the start of the year as an NBA title contender, but with another win, the Warriors, and Jordan Poole (from a Michigan perspective) will be hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy.
