Michigan Football: CJ Carr makes it official, new expert predictions
Michigan football officially missed out on CJ Carr on Thursday night as he committed to Notre Dame but the Wolverines are trending with others.
We all knew that it was coming but Michigan football legacy recruit and five-star quarterback CJ Carr committed to Notre Dame on Thursday.
It’s disappointing because it seemed like it should have been a slam dunk. However, as I have been saying, Notre Dame taking Carr opens the door for Michigan football to get Dante Moore.
There is a lot of work to do but if that happens, the loss of Carr to the Irish won’t sting nearly as much, or even if the Wolverines get five-star Jadyn Davis in 2024.
But outside of that, this one will hurt, even though CJ Carr told reporters that he never saw himself at an in-state school.
Michigan has other targets to focus on and despite all the noise from Notre Dame fans, it’s not the end of the world.
Michigan football picks up expert predictions
The Wolverines definitely need to add some four-star talent to the 2023 recruiting class soon and one player that could be possible sooner rather than later is Collins Acheampong, the No. 36 EDGE in the 2023 class according to the On3 consensus and No. 347 overall.
Acheampong will officially visit Michigan football this weekend and after Holland projected him to the Wolverines on Thursday the 6-foot-8, 254-pounder has an 86-percent chance of winding up with Michigan.
Michigan football is also trending with three-star offensive tackle Logan Howland. He’s 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, and is unranked in the consensus rankings, but Iowa, Oklahoma, and Miami are the other top contenders.
Howland is an easy comparison to Ryan Hayes and the former tight end is a strong candidate to possibly commit to Michigan this weekend or soon after following his official visit.
So, it’s a bummer to see Carr choose Notre Dame but Michigan should get some good news soon.
