Should Michigan Football be on commitment watch this weekend?

4* RB/DB Jeremiyah Love (MO)

Another athlete capable of playing multiple spots is St. Louis’ Jeremiyah Love. He’s ranked as a Composite top-200 prospect, with 247Sports specifically ranking him as the fifth-best player in the state of Missouri. And while he’s listed as an athlete, it seems like Michigan is recruiting him primarily for defense, as they have two running backs committed already (Cole Cabana, Benjamin Hall), and safeties coach Jay Harbaugh is listed as his primary recruiter.

Michigan has also offered his 2024 teammate Jeremiah McClellan, and has really made it a priority to get more involved in the St. Louis area recruiting scene in recent classes. Michigan faces competition from Notre Dame (who wants Love as a running back) and Georgia as well.

4* DT John Walker (FL)

While Hasz is the highest-ranked recruit visiting, I’d argue Walker is a more important piece for the Wolverines to land, given a larger need to replenish the interior defensive line depth in the coming seasons. Walker can play multiple spots along the interior, either nose tackle or three-technique.

The new head coach of the Florida Gators, Billy Napier, has set his sights on landing the Osceola high school star, and the Ohio State Buckeyes are in hot pursuit as well.

Michigan seems to be in a loose top four consisting of those two schools, the Wolverines, and the Big 12-bound UCF Golden Knights. Walker visited UCF and Miami already and now is set to see both Michigan (this weekend) and Ohio State (June 24th) this month before a fall official to Florida.

It seems unlikely that Michigan will land a commitment soon from Walker, but they certainly have the chance to jump ahead of some of their competition and set themselves up to impress on the field once again, much like they did in 2021.
