Caleb Houstan

Houstan is rumored to be a first-round pick regardless of not being a part of the combine. As preposterous as it sounds, it may happen. Houstan is nowhere close to being a first-rounder, but when NBA execs see the potential in someone, it is hard to change their warped minds. Not getting any NIL money makes the decision easier for both as well.

Not going to the combine was a colossal mistake by Houstan though. For a young man who was continually inconsistent in one season at Michigan, makes no sense whatsoever. A recent example would be Iggy Brazdeikis.

He lasted one year in the maize and blue and skipped out on them only to get drafted in the second round, by the Kings who abruptly traded him to New York who dumped him two years later. He’s now floundering to stay afloat in his career in Orlando. How much longer will that last?

Another example would be Jordan Poole, who some would say left too early. He is now flourishing in Golden State and helping his organization to be on the brink of another NBA championship.

There’s no way of knowing which Houstan or Diabate will be, but the signs are pointing to be more like a failure than a success in a life-altering decision like this. If they would have had better years, then it would have been a no-brainer to test the waters, but that’s not the way it played out.
