Pete Nance

In terms of player fit, no one makes more sense for Michigan basketball than Northwestern forward Pete Nance, who is also returning to college hoops and the transfer portal.

Nance is 6-foot-10 and he averaged 14.6 points per game last season. He’s a power forward that can shoot and has averaged at least one made 3-pointer in each of the past three seasons. For his career, he’s a 35 percent shooter from deep but last season he made 42 percent.

He also averaged more than a block per game and playing next to Hunter Dickinson, Nance would have opportunities he never did at Northwestern.

The problem is that even though Michigan is interested and is likely going to pursue Nance, he seems destined for North Carolina or Illinois or somewhere else.

That doesn’t mean Juwan can’t change his mind. Hunter will probably be working on him too, I’m not just going to hold out hope for Nance because the Tar Heels are the early favorite.
