Michigan football made the cut list over the weekend for three-star offensive tackle Logan Howland and the Wolverines are trending up.

The recruitment of 2023 three-star offensive tackle Logan Howland has started to pick up this spring and over the weekend, he narrowed his list to four teams: Michigan football, Oklahoma, Miami, and Iowa.

Howland is out of Westfield, New Jersey and he’s listed at 6-foot-7, 280 pounds. He’s not ranked in the 247 sports composite rankings or the On3 consensus rankings but both services have him listed as a three-star recruit in their own rankings.

He’s ranked 44th among offensive tackles according to 247 and 54th via On3. Both have him ranked as a top-10 player in the state of New Jersey and as you can tell by his final four, Howland is no slouch and at some point, that ranking is going to go up.

The former tight end who has transitioned to offensive tackle took an unofficial visit to Michigan football earlier this month and said he could see himself there. He mentioned the Joe Moore Award that the Wolverines won last season and set up an official visit.

However, Howland has also taken unofficial visits to Miami, Oklahoma, and Iowa — the other three finalists and he will take an official visit to each of those schools next month.

Michigan has him coming on June 10th. Victors Weekend the next weekend might have been preferable plus, the Wolverines are just second on the schedule as Miami and then Iowa are last.

Michigan football has slight lead according to On3

But that doesn’t mean the Wolverines can’t impress the kid and lock down his commitment in early June or at least take the lead. In fact, according to the On3 prediction machine, Michigan football is the new leader for Howland.

The Wolverines have a 21 percent chance to win his commitment while Iowa is at 15 and Oklahoma is at 13. Vanderbilt is second and after not making the cut, that will change.

Yet, you have to feel good about where Michigan football stands, and with Howland, it would be easy to sell him on the development path of Ryan Hayes, who came to Michigan as a raw former tight end and is now trending towards being a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
