Five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor has scheduled an official visit to Michigan football. Here’s a look at what it means for the Wolverines’ chances.

The offensive line board is starting to get a little more clarity for Michigan football as we head into official visit season in June.

One bit of good news that the Wolverines got on Wednesday was that five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, the No. 6 overall recruit in the 2023 class according to the On3 consensus rankings and top-ranked offensive tackle, will take an official visit to Ann Arbor this fall.

Proctor announced that he will take five official visits and the other schools that will get an official are Penn State, Alabama, Arkansas State, and Oregon.

It’s interesting because Proctor is out of Des Moines, Iowa and the Hawkeyes are viewed as the favorite right now with an 80-percent chance to win his recruitment according to the On3 prediction machine.

Proctor who is listed as 6-foot-6, 318 pounds, has been to Iowa a total of seven times, as well as Iowa State five times. That’s why he’s not using an official visit on the Hawkeyes. He doesn’t need to, sort of like how Dante Moore might not take an official visit to Michigan.

The other interesting thing from a Michigan perspective is the timing of the visit. All of the other visits are taking place this summer, while Proctor is scheduled to be in Ann Arbor on Sept. 3 for the Colorado State game.

That’s a great thing for the Wolverines, especially if they can get Proctor on campus for an unofficial visit sometime this summer, maybe during the recruiting BBQ. After Iowa, Penn State and Alabama are the two leading contenders but Michigan football could emerge as one too.

Sherrone Moore is an elite recruiter and the Wolverines are going to have one of the best offensive lines in college football once again next season.

Michigan should also be able to build on in-season success again in 2022, so delaying some of these recruitments to the fall should be a priority.

Of all the elite programs out there and Michigan is right on the cusp after its Big Ten championship last season, few are more committed to running the ball than the Wolverines.

It’s going to be an exciting few years for the offense and hopefully, that’s something they can sell Proctor on this fall, which might be their best chance of snagging him away from Iowa, which right now, still seems like a longshot.
