Joey Baker

We talked about how Michigan basketball is limited when it comes to the transfer portal and one player that shouldn’t struggle with admissions is Joey Baker, assuming he gets a waiver because he entered the transfer portal after May 1.

Still, it’s hard to believe he won’t be able to play next season and with the possibility of losing Caleb Houstan’s 3-point shooting (he shot 39 percent in Big Ten play), Baker could be a solid option. He’s 6-foot-6 and only played 11 minutes per game last season.

Baker isn’t going to need a huge role but he could be a valuable piece for the Wolverines. He averaged four points and has made 0.8 3-point attempts per game in his career in just 11 minutes on average. He’s also a career 37-percent shooter from deep.

He’s not a great rebounder or defender. However, shooting was a weakness last season and if Houstan is gone, Michigan could use another 3-point shooting forward and Baker could be one of the best options available.
