Patrick Baldwin Jr.

There are a lot of hypotheticals out there right now and this is a big one because for Patrick Baldwin Jr. to be available in the transfer portal, he will need to withdraw his name from the draft.

Baldwin Jr. played for UW-Milwaukee last season where his dad was the head coach. He battled injuries and the former five-star recruit had a disappointing season, sort of like Bates.

However, he’s got all the talent in the world. Duke was the other favorite to land him before he signed with his dad, who is longer UWM’s head coach. Baldwin could fit alongside Dickinson as a stretch four and it would give him the chance to boost his draft stock again.

Baldwin is a lot like Bates. They have been highly rated but also underachieved. In the right spot though, Baldwin Jr. could be elite and at Michigan, he wouldn’t have to be the top option. He could play off Dickinson and be part of one of the Big Ten’s best frontcourts.

We’ll see what happens but if he’s truly available in the transfer portal, I’d be shocked if Michigan basketball didn’t at least make a run at him.
